Lithuania is a country that opens up a range of opportunities for people of different cultures. Foreigners are coming to Lithuania for lots of reasons: one carries a diplomatic mission, due to love, for volunteering, to develop business, to study and work on a special project, etc. These people are an added value to the national economy, society, and culture.
Upon arrival, the strangers willingly seek to know our country's environment, people, culture, customs, traditions, and way of life. Foreigners are happy to contribute and take part in various actions, events because Lithuania becomes their second home.
Association Baltic Turkish Culture Academy initiated the project, during which foreigners who live in Lithuania had the opportunity, together with Lithuanians, to plant trees and furthermore create an international park. Tree planting is a part of the process of integration; foreigners feel welcomed in the Republic of Lithuania. In addition, the trees are the source of life on earth, they nourish us, reduce pollution and erosion, clean and moisturize the air, provide shelter and shade, impress with their beauty and elegance. The tree was always related to the history of mankind. Since ancient times, people in many countries felt great respect and affection for the trees. Faith extraordinary powers trees survived unchanged for a long time in people's minds, carefully passed down from generation to generation.

On May 7, 2016, a group of Lithuanians, Turks, Irish, and Austrians went to the "Unseen Lithuania" Millennium oak wood and planted their trees. The millennium oak grows in Kėdainiai district, township Pelėdnagių SE, Kėdainiai Forest Enterprise Labūnavos Pašilių forest districts 1, 2 blocks away. In total, 104 trees were planted and we can see the name cards not only from the above-mentioned countries, but also from Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Russia. That's how we have contributed to the conservation of forests and created a cultural dialogue between the Lithuanians and foreigners living in Lithuania.
The project was implemented in cooperation with the Lithuanian Ministry of Environment, the General Forest Management, Kėdainiai State Forestry, and Baltic Turkish Culture Academy. |
